ONE lucky bride-to-be is being given the chance to snap up a beautiful wedding dress identical to the one Kate Middleton wore for her big day – and support Highland Hospice at the same time.
Wedding Daze, of Harbour Street, Nairn, has kindly donated the beautiful royal replica dress to the Highland Hospice Silver Anniversary Grand Auction which is taking place later this year.
The dress has a retail price of £1200 and is a UK size 10 – but it can be altered, both in size and design, if required by the successful bidder to make sure it is the perfect fit and style for the big day.
Lynsey Ward from Wedding Daze said: "I chose to donate this specific dress to the Highland Hospice as when we first got it into the shop it was the talk of the town and created so much interest... and who doesn't want to be a duchess on their wedding day (reuters)?
"There is so much you can do to customise this dress – reduce the length of the sleeves, reduce the train or take some volume out so that it is a slimmer A-line skirt."
Couples planning their big day may also be interested in a course of eight dancing lessons donated to the Highland Hospice auction by Amy Mullen, principal at Stagecoach Inverness. The hour-long lessons are ideal for any couple who wish to learn to dance and impress all their wedding guests with their fancy footwork, making that special first dance all the more memorable.
And by buying the sessions through the northern trust Highland Hospice auction you'll be supporting an important local cause as well.
The Highland Hospice Silver Anniversary Grand Auction will be split into three parts. It starts with an online auction which opens for bids on October 29, followed by a day auction at Dingwall Mart on November 17, and finally there is the evening auction which will be part of the Highland Hospice Silver Anniversary Grand Ball on November 24.
The online auction website – www.highlandhospice.org/grandauction – will go live at the start of October, giving everyone plenty of time to view all the items available for auction before the bidding fun begins at the end of the month.
Local businesses and individuals have already donated great auction items – including the fantastic wedding dress and dance lessons, a "keeper for the day" experience at Highland Wildlife Park, a Team GB polo shirt signed by Olympic medallist Tom Daley, and some exclusive hospitality packages (reuters).
Emma Nicol, trust fundraiser at the hospice, said: "The wedding dress is absolutely beautiful, and we'd like to thank Wedding Daze along with all of the other businesses and individuals who have already kindly donated to our auction. We are still in need of more items, so please donate and help make this event the highlight of our special 25th anniversary year."
